Has Elva ever made one with a "String thru the body design"? Also, someone once had a picture of a double neck that looked like a fender. are you still around?
Thanks

Try this: http://tradewindsteelguitars.com/products.htm
You will see a picture of the TRADEWIND "Fender style" D-8 Steel guitar (2nd picture down).
FYI: Elva is an honest, reliable person to deal with. He makes some mighty nice guitars ! Smile

Yes indeed, Elva's guitars are great and Elva is a great person. I had a chance to go and visit him in Anaheim in May of this year. I had no intention of buying, but I was around. Well we had a nice talk. He showed me what he had in stock and I tried a bunch of his steels. Let me tell you, they are perfect. His "D8 stringmaster" is amazing.
And on top of that, don't hesitate to ask him questions about palm tree's. He's a top specialist in that too.

I first met Elva a few years ago when we travelled to CA with friends. He came to our unit with a bunch of guitars in his car for me to critique. I had no intention of buying any of them, but ended up with a neat 8 string model which I still have, and enjoy. Since then, I had an opportunity to play at the NZHSGA bash. I asked Elva to design a compact light weight D-8 to fit into my large suitcase. He did, and it did. The folks down under seemed impressed with that D-8. I still play that one also, plus 3 other TRADEWINDS ! As the years pass by, his guitars continue to improve. Smile

Thanks everyone again for the replies. I have a Tradewinds single neck with the two pickups like a Stringmaster and I like the tone ,especially for western swing. This guitar doesn't have string thru the body and I wonder how much difference that would make. I've never seen an Elva West guitar that has it.

I usually make them string-thru because it's actually less work than a bridge with string attach points. There are too many guitars that sound great that don't have strings thru to say it's the ideal way to go. Making a bridge with string slots is OK if there is access to a mill, which I have, but I'm too lazy to go thru the extra labor Very Happy
