Last night me and my wife went to a Mark Chesnutt concert. Slim came out before the show and visited with us for almost half an hour. He was an extremely nice and interesting guy. He told me that he just got a new Excel 12 string universal last week in Japan. He sure made it sound incredible. Besides being such a good guy he's a great player with incredible tone and style. After the show he let me come up on stage and noodle around with his new Excel. It is sweet!!
Oh yeah, Mark Chesnutt put on a great show. Good old fashion REAL country music with lots of fiddle and Slim out front with his steel. _________________ John Parker

Yes, Slim is a true gentleman. Was he smoking his folding pipe? |

Several years ago the band I was in opened for Mark,Met Slim backstage, what a wonderful and nice guy,Mark and his whole band were great,It was one of the most energetic cooking bands, hottest bands I've seen,And you know WHAT,NO laser show,NO big screen tv on stage,NO dirty tanktops or ragged jeans,NO stupid lyrics,NOT ONE smashed guitar on stage,NO mikestand trilling on stage,And NOT one time did Mark swing out over the crowd on a rope like an orangutan, don't you know. _________________ Hard headed, opinionated old geezer. I like Mark's approach a lot, and Slim is really a fine player. I've seen him a number of times over the years, and I was always very impressed. I think the passing of time is going to be very kind to this music as a shining example of fine, no-holes-barred country music that didn't sell out. |
