Here's the fretboard. I used 1/4" walnut, dremeled 1/16" lines, and put in maple for the frets. I ordered abalone dots. I made a jig for the dremel and it came out better than I had ever hoped. I'm using a Silvertone body from Ebay. I feel like I'm over the hump now. Randy, Keith and Mark have been a great help. I bought Duncan's Lil '59 humbucker and have new Kluson tuners. I will post a pic after the next hurdle.

Hey Ron, that's a great idea... an electric fence !
Just screw a pickup and some tuners to the fence, add some strings, and you have a very unique instrument. Very Happy

(but don't try and take it to a gig...) Whoa!

It took a few trial and errors to finally get an accurate fence. It looks like an upside down miter box with the center section missing. The center gap allows the dremel guide to fit thru snugly. The stock is clamped from underneath and the whole thing is put in a vise. Then I start the dremel off the stock and just cut the slot. I teach shop but had to have my coworker design the fence for me. I will take a picture of it.

That would be a cool idea. I use my German miter box to cut my frets and fill with two-part epoxy and sand smooth when dry. the dremel idea sounds great, can't wait to see the jig set up.
