I have a copy of Dierks Bentley's first CD which the feature cut was WHAT WAS I THINKIN'. Other cuts on the CD which were not played on the radio were as traditional as one might hear--BARTENDERS, ETC..., I BOUGHT THE SHOES and WHISKEY TEARS. If one was to listen to ALL THE CUTS on any given CD of many of today's artists, you would find that many of the cuts would be considered country music. What the industry is pushing may not be what we consider traditional country. One other artist I would like to add is Josh Turner. He is a newer artist that does traditional. Don't be quick to judge todays country music,it's out there. You have to get past Big and Rich, they are a fun group,no tear jerker in there songs. Joe

The labels push the cross-over hits,
for the most sales in the most catagories.
Some artists do a few sell the albums cuts,
and still do the music that they/we like..
it's just the radio rarely ever plays it.

The two guys you mention do have some appeal to me though. My daughter has a Josh Turner CD or two and I really liked his first CD.

On any given CD, I most always find an "album cut" that I like better than the singles. Oh, there are a few exceptions like Chesnutt's "Too Cold At Home", which had 5 or 6 #1 singles. That one didn't leave much to be discovered.

I also find that I most always like the entire CD --when I've gone to the expense to buy it. Back--way back-- when I listened to rock music there would be about 3-4 out of 10 or more that I actually like. I'm think if I buy the new country artists that radio plays I'd have to throw away their hits and keep the "filler".
