.. No not Jerry Byrd... the Byrds!!,,, I am a major Byrd freak ,,was then, and am now.. My favorite band of all time.. Roger McGuinn is my hero...
check this tribute band out ..The ByrdBrains.. not bad at all... The guy with the Ric 370-12 does a good solid "jangle", and is pretty authentic... Ran across these guys on Youtube... enjoy.. bob

I guess I don't follow what you are saying Donny ??.. What do you mean?? That the Byrds sound isn't unique anymore??... too easily copied??..
It was unique back then for sure, but many of us ran out and bought Rics, and shedded on the byrds records I guess.. I know thats what I did.. so did these guys!! lol.. bob |

Not bad...but I scrolled down and checked out one of my very favorite Byrds songs, "Feel A Whole Lot Better" by these guys - and listening to the lead singer on that one was pretty painful.

| Bob, I guess I'm trying to say that what impressed me back then doesn't impress me much now. I've changed, I've grown musically, and my tastes are more refined. I just listen to the music. I no longer get caught up in the look, the lifestyle, the emotion, and the craziness like I used to. I'm impressed more these days with talent and soul - "neat" and "far out" just doesn't do it for me anymore. |

Bob,
I used to be a "bona fide" Byrd freak, myself. The sound of a Rick 12 still makes me perk up. Back in 66'-67', I worked with a band from Kentucky, called the "Bad Seeds". They had a contract from Columbia Records and were doing a tour up here for a while. Everything we had, Columbia paid for. I went through 3 Rick 360's, before I found one that the neck wouldn't come loose. I've still got it. A blond 360, serial # 072. I think I still have the "Rick-O-Sound" guitar cable that came with it. Our sound was WAY too close to the Byrds, so, they let the contract run out. Even the originals were too jingly, jangly for them. I had a great time playing some great music back then. But then, Clarence White came along and I had to have a Tele with a B-bender, and the story goes on and on and on. You can blame Lloyd Green and JD Maness for the transition I'm in now. Thanks for the headsup on U Tube. |
