I just found one of these rare birds in great condition. I haven't seen one for sale before, so I don't know what the fair value is. What's it worth?

I would say or pay $600-800. Very nice one piece body made of bakelite, string thru with intergrated nut and bridge, very similiar to an early B6 but a smaller, and unlike the B6 the academy isn't a bolt on neck.

I have 3 Academys and 1 Ace ...

$300 - $400 range ... but that was a couple years ago ...

I did buy a canabilized one this year ...

Somethin' like $125 for everything but the pup ... but thats no biggie for me ... Image

Things have certainly taken a "turn upwards" in $$$ for all things Bakelite.

Never-the-less ... pound for pound ... these rascals "hang" with their bulkier "big brothers" exceptionally well ...

Best "Student" guitars ever made ... in my opinion.

I have 2 Aces, the handrest don't bother me, though I wish they were academys so I could see the pretty horseshoes. I bought them last year on ebay..I paid 325. for one and 450. for the other one..I got a white one with red knobs! I love those guitars so much..I think I would of paid more for them if I had to.
