Fender Champion Question

My Fender Champion developed an annoying electrical buzz that goes away when I touch the bridge cover. Obviously a grounding problem but I'm unsure how to fix it.

I had a problem one time with my Champion. The electronics were a very tight fit and would touch another wire. I fixed it by wrapping them with some elec tape.

Probably a ground wire soldered to the case of the volume and/or tone control whose opposite end is meant to touch the underside of the metal pickup cover is no longer making contact with the cover. The pickup cover end of the ground wire should be bare and held in place with a metal staple which is proud enough of the guitar body to maintain contact with the underside of the pickup cover. The pickup cover may be loose on the body, or the staple has become recessed in the guitar body and no longer touches the underside of the metal pickup cover.
