What Child Is This C6th Lap Steel Solo

By arranging this song in the fashion of Classical Guitar I found it possible to
get a good Solo sound form my BR-9 Lap Steel tuned standard C6th with the top string "E"
It's just one month from Christmas so I thought it "on time" to offer this Carol.
Compliments of the season to all and lets
pray for Peace On Earth Good Will Toward Men.

You did a beautiful job, Roy. It's nice to hear what this tuning can do in the hands of someone who knows how to control it.

Many thanks!
Just as a note this song took several takes
as I was getting a lot of noise from metal finger picks on open strings. I tried using no picks and still was not happy,,,finally settled on a pair of red plastic picks which I had never used before,,and they felt good.
I will use them again.
I have tabbed this arrangement and if you would like a copy please email me.
Compliments of the season.

What a beautiful version!

Is this known as a Christmas Carol in the US? Over here it's known as "Greensleeves" and goes back to the 1500s:

Alas, my love, you do me wrong,
To cast me off discourteously.
For I have loved you well and long,
Delighting in your company.

Chorus:
Greensleeves was all my joy
Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves was my heart of gold,
And who but my lady greensleeves.

Your vows you've broken, like my heart,
Oh, why did you so enrapture me?
Now I remain in a world apart
But my heart remains in captivity.

chorus

I have been ready at your hand,
To grant whatever you would crave,
I have both wagered life and land,
Your love and good-will for to have.

chorus

If you intend thus to disdain,
It does the more enrapture me,
And even so, I still remain
A lover in captivity.

chorus

My men were clothed all in green,
And they did ever wait on thee;
All this was gallant to be seen,
And yet thou wouldst not love me.

chorus

Thou couldst desire no earthly thing,
but still thou hadst it readily.
Thy music still to play and sing;
And yet thou wouldst not love me.

chorus

Well, I will pray to God on high,
that thou my constancy mayst see,
And that yet once before I die,
Thou wilt vouchsafe to love me.

chorus

Ah, Greensleeves, now farewell, adieu,
To God I pray to prosper thee,
For I am still thy lover true,
Come once again and love me.

chorus

Here are the words for the Carol. Same melody line as Greensleeves.

What child is this, who lays to rest,
On mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping?

This, this is christ the king
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring him praise,
The babe, the son of mary.

So bring him incense, gold and myrrh;
Come, peasant king, to own him.
The king of kings salvation brings;
Let loving hearts enthrone him.

This, this is christ the king
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring him praise,
The babe, the son of mary.

This, this is christ the king
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, oh haste to bring him praise,
The babe, the son of mary.
The babe, the son of mary.

Roy: Would it be alright to describe this lovely melody and your playing it as 'gentle, tender and beautiful'? We who have heard it here in California think so. And indeed I would love to have the tabs. Thank you so very much, Roy
