well what are your thoughts on scale length? i'm new to lap steel (well all steels) & i'm building 1 which is better to start witha 22.5 or 25, or is it choice of the 1 playing for slants & all the other neat stuff ya'll do.

The 22.5 seems to be favored for slants, but it's great to have both Very Happy
Nationals used a 23 inch scale, which seems OK.

My favorite guitar for playability was the Excel. It had 22 1/4 " scale. It was hard to get a slant wrong on that one. It was the scale recommended by Jerry Byrd.
