A pretty little guitar now on eBay has a set of Rick appearing pickups in place. Does anyone know? Are they real or merely look alikes? If real, it could be a real honey of a lil' guitar. |

Hi Ray-
I own the exact same guitar and also have the matching 'radio face' amp (8 watts, radio tubes, Oahu written in wood script across the front)it came with. I've been trying to find out what model guitar this is for a while.
Overall a very cool sounding guitar, with 'vibe' for days. |

Roger,
Off hand I'd say it's a Diana, but I never knew Oahu used a horseshoe pickup...yours has one too? If so that's pretty interesting.

I had one exactly like that, except for the horseshoe. Never seen them with a horseshoe before.....

I thought about bidding but I prefer the short scale. I bet it sounds nice with that PU.

Hi Guy's - I looked at the eBay guitar closer and it has 4 screw holes (2 on either side of the P/U) which mine doesn't have. I'm not sure why.
The pickup on mine has a piece of wood(?) sandwiching the top and bottom of the pickup. The P/U itself has black wire wrapped around it, so I'm not sure exactly what kind of P/U these are. If you look close the vol and tone pots are old AM radio knobs.
Diana's have Diana actually on the guitar.
Andy Volk's book has an old ad for Oahu's and this guitar and the amp are in it. |
