Ebay - Custom Stratty Thingbob
It amazes me that people will pay $1500 for an original Fender Mustang, with those "original" mandolin frets and the "original" Whammy Bar from Hell Devil, and let some beaut like this slide by. If I hadn't just got bushwhacked by a cheap 7-string and possibly forced to rethink the whole # of strings thing, I'd be all over this. I'll bet if he relisted it for $1000 it would sail away - the parts alone are worth more than the starting price.

I'm just sayin'... are you making the observation that you're not smart because you're not buying it? Laughing

What is the advantage of scalloped frets, anyway? BTW, it is a beaut... I just don't play guitar...

The cool thing about a scalloped fretboard, is that every time you get excited, your playing goes out of tune!

If anyone is interested in hearing a scalloped-neck guitar, I shot a couple videos featuring Matthew Montfort of Ancient Future playing his scalloped-neck Martin with a sitar and tabla. It gets a very sitar-sounding feel to the music. We hope to have a DVD out by the end of the year.

My main guitar is a mutant Warmoth "Tele" with a scalloped ebony fretboard; intonation problems aren't really the guitar's problem, you know.... Whatever Yngwie Malmsteen's faults, he's got impeccable intonation, as does John McLaughlin on the recent "Remember Shakti" albums with his scalloped ES345 (.008's!) The main thing to remember is to press down with only one finger at a time, even if there are several notes on the same string, but that's just considered normal, good, speedy technique anyway. I can play any guitar out of tune with the proper attitude. Mr. Green
