I believe a guy from South Africa was the lucky one.
That was the GFI-S10 that was handed out on Sunday afternoon at the convention........

Anybody knows who it was??

Regards,
Nic

Earnest,

No idea !
I was so surprised when Skip Tannery e-mailed me about this news........ considering the cost getting from here to the USA, and accomodation, I was quite surprised that some-one from here would be attending.
Maybe I know the guy....??

Regards,
Nic

It may just be a rumour, but I heard that everybody attending the past steel convention had to sign a letter of non-disclosure upon leaving. It must be true......normally the forum would be buzzing with all the posts of forumites wanting to share their experience. It would also appear that mostly non-forumites were about the only ones attending the Sunday session.......judging by the lack of reply to my original question........ Surprised Smile

Hi Dan,

I was just kidding ! Very Happy Very Happy

Of course was was none of that....only trying to get some response out of the guys !
There are literally only a hand full of steelers here in South Africa , and I'm wondering (for interest sake) who this person could be who got the GFI steel.
Skip says he thought they said he's from South Africa, but he's not a hundred percent sure as the guy was over on the other side of the room.
Hopefully someone on the forum can tell me.
Regards,
Nic

Hi Dan,

Currently the Rand/Dollar exchange rate is quite horrific; enough to put one off overseas travel !

Rest assured that I'll be there in spirit, and envy all of you who are there.
I often say to the wife that I would love to be there; just meeting the guys, and talk steel until morning will make me a very happy chappie ! Very Happy
Regards,
Nic

The winner was Michael Adamson, South Africa. A very nice guy I have known for years.
He came to me and said he couldn't take it back home, so I bought it from him and filled his pocket with something he CAN take home. ($$$$$$$)

This should answer all questions,
Bobbe

I know Michael well.....known here as 'Sez'.....

I bet he almost fell of his chair when they called his name ! Very Happy
I'll get all the news from him once he's back.

Nic
