Does anyone know if there are recordings/arrangements of John Denver tunes on steel? If so, please let me know.
Thanks.

If there isn't, there should be. I second your opinion that the Denver songs would lend themselves beautiful to pedal steel.

I remember a country music TV show way back in the late 70's I think it was...The introduction theme was "Take Me Home, Country Roads". When the steel jumped in and did its part, my excitement level was up high.

By the way does anybody know what show I am talking about? I would love to know who played steel there.

The coolest thing John Denver ever said in public, IMHO, occured on network tv during the Grammy's.
He was a presenter and when he stepped up to the mike and said "Ladies and Gentlemen, here is the woman that God put on earth to teach the rest of us how to dance in high heeled shoes, Miss Tina Turner",
I was ROTFLMAO!

Let me first say that John Denver did alot of good, his charity work is outstanding and I wish some celeb's would follow.

However for a guy that is so pro-enviroment, and such a humanitarian flying an airplane is the worse thing you can do to the enviroment.

I found "Annie's Song" on the 70s LP (now CD) entitled "Steel Guitars of the Grand Ole Opry", featuring Hal Rugg, Weldon Myrick & Sonny Burnette. Being an "old" guitar player, hearing how others arrange familiar tunes on the steel is very helpful to me at this point. I hope an arrangement of "Country Roads" will surface one of these days. In the meantime, I'm working on hymns & country standards.

It's sad that some buy into the the mis-informed sensationalist media and political hype. Please let me tell you two facts about this...

1. I fly my airplane from Phoenix to L.A. often. It makes an 8 hour drive into a two hour flight. I burn less gas than the car, get better gas mileage, and emit less greenhouse gases doing it. There are a lot worse things you can do to the environment - like tearing up the woods on an ATV perhaps?

2. Having known JD and worked on his airplanes, I can tell you for a fact he was no hypocrite. The aircraft John was flying when he perished was one of the most fuel efficient designs out there.

Consider the fact that the Great Inventor of the Internet and Greenhouse Gas Champion, Al Gore, blasts around the country in some of the most fuel inefficient private, corporate and commercial jets to spread his hype on global warming. Then we can compare hypocrites.

John Denver songs on steel would be a great album. The idea reminds me of Curly's "Nashville Sundown" album, doing the hits of Gordon Lightfood.

I just had a thought - This sounds like a great project for Mike Headrick, I'm serious - I'd buy it if he produced it.
