After years of searching, I've finally found the best footwear for pedal steel...

...with a little effort I can cover all six pedals and the volume control. Whoa!

...and they're so warm and comfortable. Very Happy

Well I think this is mostly subjective.

The importance of finger picks and footwear I am sure go hand-in-hand.

I always look for a shoe with a very thin sole, this is offten a cheap shoe, but it works great as you can feel the pedals better.

Yes, the colour makes a big difference to the sound. Blue shoes for the blues and green for country. Monochrome, black and white, for the pre-Technicolor sound. Very Happy

Could it be, lt's not in the feet. Rolling Eyes ---

But in the hands, depending on what kind and what color of bar you are using. Confused

The watch band could make a difference too. Laughing --Especially if you get it caught in the strings. Embarassed

I agree with MickyB! I've not worn anything but black shoes/boots since I was old enough to buy my own clothes.

I try and play with the widest variety of my current footwear I can, so that I never have to think too hard about it. I am reasonably adept in anything from patent leather dress shoes to thongs (flip-flops)

There is only one pair that I have vowed never to wear again (they had great big thick crepe soles)

Sneakers are generally the easiest for me - I should get with the strength and go and get a black pair.

Image trying to explain that to the poor sales attendant at the shoe shop - "no, really, they have to be black, they sound HEAPS better"

I have a pair of black Justin ropers, and a pair of brown Justin ropers for color co-ordination. I find I have better tone with my black ropers! Very Happy

My guitar is brown, maybe a black guitar to go along with the brown one would help some more! Laughing

Now to convince my wife I need another steel, maybe I can use the color co-ordination thing with her! Rolling Eyes

Larry

Tony Lamas or Justins!!! Does that mean my Noconas are the reason I can't play well?? Oh well, there goes the wardrobe budget buying a new pair of Tony's. But, if it makes me play better....
