Self Introduction

I'm new to the forum and steel guitar in general. I've always loved bluegrass music, especially the 5- string banjo. Hawaiian music, incorporating the steel guitar was my second passion, but couldn't find published lesson material or any private instruction until reecently. I also enjoy western swing and gospel.
Once I retired and found this forum, it opened my eyes to the possibility of learning the lap steel guitar. The amount of knowledge and willingness of members to share information about the steel guitar is remarkable. The HSGA forum has also been a blessing.
Learning a whole new instrument is very exciting, although I'm aware it will require 100s of hours of practice just to learn a few basics. I have a very experienced teacher now and some other resources too, including this forum.
I'm starting on a great 8-string guitar, the West Coast Steel Guitar Model WC-8H, tuned to C6. I've attached a photo for those of you not familiar with this guitar.
Looking forward to all your posts on a daily basis.
