Only one I know of is one by Kelly Joe Phelps.
It's for acoustic lap steel, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Acoustic Guitar Magazine has a nice Open D Lap lesson by Kelly Joe Phelps on their website: http://www.acousticguitar.com/lessons/phelps/1.shtml

Example 3 is a sweet arrangement of "Red River Valley".

Fretboard Roadmap for Dobro by Fred Sokolow is a good one. It is divided in half. The first half is G tuning and the second half is D tuning.

Thes two tunings are related as they share the same intervals on 4 strings. A lot of the same patterns can be played on either.

george, i do not know if i really am answering your query, but if you wish to know what it sounds like, at least the way i play "dobro" lap, listen in to "help me make it thru the night" on the hsga website. the "dobro" sound is from my acoustic-electric charvel jackson and i tune it to an open D major.

aloha,

Start with your favorite songs that are played in open D (or E), and attempt to transcribe them.
