I added an F# to open E to get the following (on my 7 string), low to high:
E B E F# G# B E
E2? E9? Something else? The three whole steps in the middle (E, F#, G#) make for some nice dissonance. |

I'd call it Eadd9, it would need a 7th in there to be a straight E9.

You really should drop that 6th str. to (D) and you’d be all set to do some serious pickin’! Oh! ~ and put the (B) in the 7th spot! E9th.

So, John, what would the resulting tuning be (hi to low, or low to hi, your choice)? |

An E2 would leave out the G#.
An Emaj9 would include a D#.
The chord is called Eadd9. |

I would call it some kind of E9th tuning. But it doesn't matter what you call it. Just how you play it.

Lo to Hi = B–D–E–F#–G#–B–E (E9)
Hi to Lo = E–B–G#F#–E–D–B (E9)
Sideways = Oh! never mind, you get the idea!
