Does anyone know if Gene Pooler played a Wright Cusom quad with no pedals? does anyone have any photos of it?
Thanks,
Marty

Marty, I have packed away in my storage and album that Gene playing a Wright Custom with Johnnly Lee Wills and yes, it had pedals. I owe Reece some samples when I dig it out.
I believe the album came out some time in the '63-'65 time frame. I thought it was cool because I was playing almost the same guitar.

Gene Pooler was a great great great player, played like Chalker, Billy Braddy, Maurice, big chords and beautiful execution. One of the greatest players ever. Gargantious in every way. Died at 39 years of age, a horrific shame. Miami OK.

Ask Maurice, Randy Beavers, and any incredible player that ever heard this monster steeler. Yes, I first heard him with the Johnny Lee Wills band, whew, I loved that band in he '50's. Autry Rutledge was the great lead player at Gene's side.

He was playing an imaculate D-10, 9 pedal Sierra/Wright when I met him, he never touched it without wearing gloves, except to play it. A fanatic at keeping a guitar perfect. Sure miss this guy.
