Bought a used one purely on reputation months, maybe years ago. Put it aside & forgot about it till recently. Now, I'm not totally stupid at doping out gadgets, but this thing utterly mystifies me! If the user manual were written in Japanese maybe I'd understand it better.

I'm coming out of retirement now & need a decent, basic effects unit for steel -- not with a bazillion Rocker's options I'd never use. Can anyone either point me to a "Roland GP-100 For Dummies" book, or otherwise recommend some other, user-friendly effects unit?

Hi Bill:

I have several GP-100 units and have been using them for years.

I use the GP-100 in two ways. I use the processor only and shut the preamp off and use the reverbs and delays, or turn the preamp on and use the unit as a preamp processor with a power amp.

Check out Ebay and see if you can find the VHS instructional tape on this unit. The trick to editing the programs are the two knobs on the right hand side of the unit then press the store button to lock in the settings. I don't have the unit in front of me so I can't be more detailed.

Regards,

Lenny
