Peavey Nashville 112 Knob Settings and plug in jacks

Post by Charles Fager »

For those of you familiar with the Nashville 112, I would like to ask you whether you use the Hi Gain or Low Gain Jack, and what settings you use on each of the knobs during private practice and also during performance. Those knobs are:

Pre-Gain (0 to 10)
Low (-15 to +15)
Mid (-15 to +15)
Shift (150 to 1.5K)
Hi (-15 to +15)
Presence (-15 to +15)
Master Reverb (0 to 10)
Master Gain (0 to 10)

Any advice on the best settings for these listed above? I do not know what the Pre and Post Eq Patch jacks are for; could anybody explain?...are there any good references material describing any of these settings and jacks and what it means to a new PSG Player like me?...CF

Pre > 3-4
low > +6
mid > -15
shift > 800
high > -6
presence > -6
reverb > +4
master gain > 5-6

when I added my black box,(yesterday) I backed off the highs to > -9

There are many threads about the NV112 on here. Do a search and just about all your questions have been answered.

you may not like such a "vintage" tone but my settings are the following give or take a number depending on room.

Pre- adjust to room try to keep above abot 4-5
Low- 12-15 (high as possible w/o getting muddy)
Mid- Full off
Shift 900ish or 3 o'clock
Hi- 0-+2
Pres- Full on
Reverb- To taste- maybe 4-6ish
Master Gain- Always full on
You have a nice sounding little amp there and if I didn't have so many I would have kept mine.
Best,
Justin

Edited to say the above amp settings were provided to me by our friend Jim Loessberg.

The Pre-EQ Patch is for a pot volume pedal. It's designed with the proper impedances to prevent the tone loss you experience when using a pot pedal between the guitar and amp input

The Post-EQ Patch is for line-level effect devices (not stomp boxes).

If you don't have the NV112 Manual, just click here to get it.
Best regards,
Mike

I use a different setting when I use a microphone in to the PA or when I use the direct out. Basically I change the pre gain and the master. Lower pre with the direct and higher with a mic.

Nashville 112,
Low + 12
Mid - 9
Shift 800
High + 6
Presence + 3
Reverb 6
The Master Gain should be set higher than the pre-gain.Try those at your own volume levels. :D

The Master Gain should be set higher than the pre-gain.
Is that still true on the Nashville 112/1000? My mixing experience says to set the pre gain to the highest level possible without distorting and then adjust the master gain (volume) separately. I don't know about the older Peavey amps except to say that I do the same thing with them and it's never given me any trouble.

The general rule is to have the Pre-Gain lower than the Master gain. And, I did something I don't normally do, look at the manual and it states in there that for "clean" signal the Pre should be set lower than the Master.

If you were looking for overdrive, that may be a different scenario.

For most places I pick, I set the pre at 4 and the Master Gain at 6 and it's usually more than enough volume.

If the "pre" is set higher than the "post", then you will get distortion, and clipping.
