Has anyone bought the new JSP boxed CD set of Chet Atkins " the early years " that includes Jerry Byrd on tracks?
Amazon doesn't have a track listing yet but CD Universe has a pretty extensive product detail on it . A lot of the top gun country players appear on the material and it looks worth picking up . I know Jerry Byrd is on the Bear Family reissue of the Country All Stars album with Chet Atkins, but don't know if there is additional material featuring Jerry on this release.

I just checked out the track listing and it looks like it's about 98% of what is on the Bear Family 5 CD set "Galloping Guitar".

I have the Bear Family discs (which I paid about $100 for) and they are fantastic. If you don't have these discs get this new JSP set. For $26.95 (retail) you can't go wrong.

These recordings were before Chet invented "The Nashville Sound". Very bluesey, soulful and hot playing. Yes, there are some cuts that will make you cringe because of the corniness but just ignore those.
