Carvin Vintage 16 - not a lot of clean headroom; sweet, singing tone.
Weber 6M45 (a JTM45-clone built from a kit) witha 1x12" & 1x10" speaker cab: full, fat, warm clean tone with lots of bass and mids. |

Kevin: Have you modified the Valve Junior Head? I've got the set, the head and the 12" speaker cab, but so far, I haven't found the right combination of head volume and steel volume to give me a sound that doesn't "fuzz" a little bit. I've read that some folks have had to swap out the tubes for better ones. I have trust that I will eventually find the right sound, but I haven't found it yet. Hw do you do it?

Peavey Bandit 65 (for those "wrong side of the tracks" gigs)
Ampower Model 30 (pretty obscure has a cool tone & vibe, runs on 2 6L6's, 6 inputs, 2 volumes, tone & tremolo, breaks up nicely past 4)...hmmm no pictures.. need to fix that...
Traynor YCV 40 (versatile amp, but only one input)
Sunn A212, ancient VERY LOUD tube combo amp.

Three 100 watt Marshall heads driving 6 4x12 cabs...
actually, old Traynor (70s) tube amps thru 12 inch Electrovoice speakers. All very heavy and very loud clean sound.
Being a newbie, I've found that at least stringmaster type steels don't have anywhere as much output as conventonal electric guitars, so you need a lot of headroom. |

Heres my Sho-Bud Compactra. Its from 64, the volume tone and others knobs are marked out in paint pen and has gold sparkel covering!!! The tone on this is killer,, it changed my mind in finding a Standel!!! There is a picture of Curly Chalker sitting on one of these on an albume cover,, does anybody know any thing about these amps other than they were madce by Evans? |

| I have a Fender amp can and a Roland Micro Cube. I'm currently experimenting with a Genz-Benz acoustic guitar amplifier. It gives my Remington a soft and mellow tone. But I'm still experimenting. I haven't settled on anything I'd recommend. |
