While getting my hair cut at a new barbershop, and new barber we started disscussing music and steel guitars.
He told me he had an uncle from Ark. who played steel guitar around the Dallas, Ft. Worth area during the 50's, and was interested in knowing more about him.
I told him I would ask for information on the Steel Guitar Forum and see if any one could add some info.
His name is J. D. Railly, don't know if the spelling is correct.

Thanks
Larry

Larry I don't know if I can help you much or not but there use to be A steeler that played around Little Rock, Ark and Hot Springs Ark. and his name was J. D. Railey. He was an Insurance salesman. I use to fill in for him sometimes in Hot Springs at some clubs. Don't know if this is the same guy or not. Anyway J.D has been dead several years. I know this is not much help but thats all I know about him.
Thanks J. Dean

J. Dean, that's probably the same guy, this barber said he'd passed on several years ago.
Thanks for the thought.

that is the same j.d.
he finised his career on steel playin' with the late
tommy trent on teevee and the tommy trent funbarn
and too many to count school house, court house squares and main streets all over arkansas.
the same tommy trent that chet atkins makes reference of in his book.
j.d.'s exposure with trent was the inspiration for many a new steel player in arkansas.
j.d. was one of those guy's that always dressed the part of a showman and was prim and proper on stage.
to him the big time was panther hall. he had good stories about panther hall from the day.

Thanks Jack,
I'll pass this information along, I'm sure he'll be glad to know his uncle was well thought of.
