Why would anyone take a perfectly good 8 string and "Convert" it to 6 ?

I do think the seller's description is somewhat misleading..

Baz.. I have an old 6 string Ric Frypan which is so enjoyable to play when the mood strikes. I tune it to the F#9th and when we get together for jam sessions, I pull it out for some really nice sounds. There's something about the 6 string format which is so appealing. Anyway, I figure if it was good enough for the great Dick, Sol and Andy, to name but a few, I sure ain't gonna knock it.

George, I sure agree. It seems to make an old six sound better also, with an old tuning. I haven't tried the F#9th, but would like to.

Instruments are modded all the time to suit the player......Sometimes a steel that you have modded gives you a steel that you can play as opposed to one you can't ...Sometimes it's not about the money that you loose when modding an instrument, but more about making something for yourself that's playable and make's YOU happy .... Variety is the spice of life....Jim
