Heres my 2nd contribution to the forum 'Lazy River' This is another self penned piece named after the wonderfull instrument I played it on. Please go to

You'll see the tune listed in the tracks, hope you enjoy as much as 'Only You'. Lazy river was inspired by the one and only Mr Howard White, one of the all time great, unsung lap players who rarely gets a mention on here (nobodys fault) This ones for you Howard ! ( special thanks to Jean-Francois for engineering )

Kevin -- really sweet tune and playing - the tone, the feel, all of it... made me want to go grab my upright bass and play along!

Kevin...That is beautiful...these Lazy River instruments are great & you really do them justice...has Rance heard the tune yet, the tune would make a great sound track for his Lazy River web site...Terry V.

Kevin -- is that Lazy River the spruce top with rosewood sides. It appears to be from your picture on myspace, but not really certain.

I really prefer that Weissenborn tone to dobro, especially for a tune like this. Beautiful tone.

Thanks for your comments fella's, re bare fingers Steinar I use pro picks, the hollowed out ones that allow some flesh to make contact with the string, thats very astute of you, they are what I use for playing in standard position so just kept them on when I switch to lap. The guitar Todd is I think the spruce and walnut version, I keep it in open E for all the E variants I use (E6th 7th) also have a Pete Howlett mahogany style 1 copy which I tune down for the C and D variants. I need to start looking at bullet bars now as reverse slants with my stevens is a bit of a mare !

Kev, a bullet bar is the way to go - it's a lot more versatile, and much better for slanting.

That is really nice Kev - you have such a natural style on the lap steel, you could say you take to it "like a duck to water on a lazy river". Great stuff, H.
