When I tune the raise on my C pedal and let off of it, my E always goes back sharp and my F lever dosen't raise. I have an all pull changer.. What am I doing wrong ? |

First make sure you are not "overtuned" by backing off the raise tuner on the side of the steel. If you find the open string changing pitch just by tuning the endplate that is your problem.
Make sure nothing is binding and that there is a little slack in your raise rod.
If that doesn't do it you could try tightening the return spring.
Sometimes something gets caught in the changer that can cause that problem also. _________________ Bob |

This sounds like your pedal C doesn't pull the raise finger far enough. You may: 1) use a hole on the raise finger which is closer to the changer axle; 2) change the pullrod position on the bellcrank, so that the travel increases; 3) adjust the pedal stop to make the pedal throw longer.

My old Carter had the same problem. It was caused by the two E raise rods binding underneath. The way they both ran through common bellcranks (the Carter design) caused them to affect one another. I think one of the rods was slightly bent or something, in my case. Either way, the reason why the C pedal and F lever are both giving you problems is because they're working off the same finger and in such close proximity. I'd look underneath while moving both changes with my hands....the problem should show itself. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars

My F lever works fine except when I tune my C pedal.
It pulls it away from my F lever. I've backed my pull rods all the way out. Made sure my pedal has plenty of travel. I think I'll take everything off that string and start over. Maybe I'll see whats wrong. |
