:D Welcome Eric to this crazy world of the pedal steel guitar. You willl find you have a life long love/hate relationship with this lady. Some days she will be kind and some days she will be an absolute terror on four legs. She won't stay in tune no matter what you try, and then she will turn around sound like angels singing. Don't get discouraged. Stay with it. You've got lots of time to learn it right. With all the new videos and DVD's as well as background tracks available you should be up and running in no time. It takes a little while to get your sea legs on this baby, but it will be time well spent believe me. Good luck and come to the Forum with any questions you might have no matter how stupid they may sound to you. The Steel Guitar Forum is the best place to get the answers, bar none. We all had to start somewhere, so we know where you are coming from. Happy pickin'.

You're in for a treat. This is the very best place to find PSG info. SGF! Welcome. If you like JD, then checkout the music on Dukes of Hazzard sometime. Great PSG!

Welcome Eric...such a refreshing thing to see a younger person coming on board in the steel guitar community. I am sure you will try new material with the steel and hopefully some traditional things. Feel free to ask questions on this forum, there is a wealth of knowledge here and most will be happy to help. You're just up the road from me and hopefully we will have the opportunity to meet soon.

Welcome Eric! I am 26 and have been playing since January 2007. Nice to see some people closer to my age getting into steel. We have to keep the steel guitar alive for future generations! Good Luck :)

Stan,
I started fooling around with the PSG when I was 59. I'm almost 63 now and can't spend as much time with it as I want to, but I believe you are never too old to learn. I love the instrument and someday hope I will be able to play and not embarrass myself. I'm still in the infant stage, but every time I practice I learn a little more. If you're ninety-eight and you always wanted to play the PSG, get one. You're never too old to learn.

Hi Eric and thanks for joining the Steel Guitar Forum. Your going to enjoy it here a lot. So many different places to visit here and each room has its own folks that hang out there.

Sounds like your well on your way already, and it means so much to see younger people get interested in the steel guitar.

So don't be shy, if there is something you want to know or just talk about, start a thread on it and you'll, well you'll see what happens.

Welcome
