Dobro - an old one, or a Beard Goldtone solid mahogany

Hi!
I'm looking for a warm-sounding square neck dobro with a decent bottom end. I'm not playing bluegrass - I play quite mellow solo music - so I favour warmth of tone over treble and volume.
I am either looking for an old Dobro, presumably in a bit beat-up condition that can be fixed, as my budget is in the $1000 region maximum.
Or a good sounding OMI Dobro from the 1970s.
Or a Beard Goldtone solid mahogany (that has been set up at the Beard shop in the USA).
It's pretty much a quest for a certain sound rather than for a certain model or vintage, so if sound clips could be provided that would be most appreciated!
I live in the UK and would like to use USPS insured air shipping, which I have done for many guitars bought from the USA without any problems.
(My eBay user name is funky_squaredance and I have 100% positive feedback from 140 eBay members.)
Many thanks for you time!
All the best,
Fred
