Jammed with a priest today!

A few weeks ago I saw the priest at my parish accompany a violinist at mass. Last week, I introduced myself and struck up a conversation about guitar. He said, give me a call, maybe we can "jam"!!! Well, one thing lead to another, and today I brought the gibson lap and fooled around. It went so well, tomorrow it will be Stringmaster and BIAB. Will this give me a direct pipeline to heaven, or must we play "Pipeline" first. He really enjoyed the hymns with a C&W twang.

What instrument does the priest play?

He had the coolest guitar, a cross between acoustic and electric. It was hollow but also could be jacked. It had a built in chromatic tuner. I was calling out chords to him and he was able to follow along. Tomorrow I will teach him Sleepwalk and he can teach me Ave Maria.

Jim,
Just for that, I'm telling him tomorrow. If you break a string, you will know why, LOL.

This thread about the priest reminded me of the late '60's when all the Catholic churches where I lived in San Antonio (and there are a LOT of them there) were getting into the "Folk Mass" thing. It was pretty cool but really didn't go over that well with the Hispanic crowd. Now if they had done a Mariachi Mass thing that might have gotten them some real cred! Anyway one of our priests and a couple of the nuns took up guitars. Wonder how they are doing today. They all were pretty young back then so they should all still be around. Maybe I should haul one of my rigs down there and do a "Sacred Steel" jam with them!
