In the good old days it was so easy to swith on a cheap taperecorder and record some of my pedal steel playing. Is it possible to do that nowdays with a "cd recorder" and what brand would you use and where would you get it?

I have a MiniDisc recorder/player I used to use for that purpose. Not as cheap as a tape recorder, but the sound quality is good and it's pretty flexible. You can rewrite on the discs too.

I wasn't able to find any good deals on portable CD recorders. When I practice now and I want to record myself, I run direct out on my preamp to my computer--no discs to fool with.
