I've been readings all the posts about the Revelation pre amp and was wondering what effects were used with it the most? You see lots and lots of reports about the unit itself, but not much commentary on the rest of the stuff that they have been using with it. Also, what made you choose the effects unit that you did? If I was to get one, I would still use my Peavey E 115 cabinets, so also what power amps are being used?

Thanks,
Brad

Brad, I use a Lexicon MPX 1 effects processor with my Revelation. I mostly use it for a little reverb and delay, its quiet, clean and does not have the midi sounds of some processors. With one band I need some overdrive at times and I just add a stomp box. With the effects blend control on the Revelation, you have full control of any effects you choose to use.
I use a Stewart world 1.2 amp, just good clean noise free dependable power.
Your Peavey speakers cabs are about the same as I use, they will work great.

I also use a Lexicon MPX1 with my Revelation. Just reverb. Sometimes I use a chorus. Gotta read the manual but it's well worth it. I leave all my other effects (Pod and the other stomp boxes I used to carry) at home now.

As far as power amps, I have a Peavey DPC 1400X that I bought thinking I was going to also get some speaker cabs. I tried the Rev with the DPC 1400X and a couple of 115Es and it sounded really good. In the end, I bought a second Nashville 112, mostly for space and weight reasons and am about to sell the 1400X.

Hope this helps.

I mostly just use an Alesis Nanoverb in the back loop, and run the Revelation into a Mesa 20:20 into a D-130F and Cali 15.

I run my Revelation with a Stewart World 1.2 power amp and Lexicon MPX1 effects. I am working on 3 songs to demo it and will post them hopefully in late June.

See my rack system!

I use a TC Electroincs M-300 for reverb and delay then on to the power amp section of a Nashville 112.

With the effects loop and mix control on the Revelation I imagine most any reverb unit will sound good. Since you are only blending in a small amount of effects with the original signal (that doesnt get converted to digital) the steel tone remains "pure."

Thanks guys. You know Randy, I think that you are right and that I never really gave it much thought in that way. There would be so small a percent of digital signal that it probably wouldn't be very noticable no matter what effects you used, as long as it was reasonably decent. The other good thing is that if I wasn't happy with the results I could always buy different effects after I recover from buying the Revelation.

Another vote for the MPX1. I have three of these units and I've been very satisfied with them.

I am using the TC Electronics M-350. It was recommended to me by Brad Sarno and it is working out very well. It is easy to use and reasonably priced. I am using one or two Nashville 112's as the power amp.

Brad, I use the Lexicon MX200, Stewart 1.2, and B/W 1501-4's, with the Rev. I don't think that what you decide to use with the Rev is as important as the way the Rev uses the effects loop and the input of the pick-up directly to the tube concept. I have not tried any other effects or amps since I got the Rev., but I had other pre-amps and effects before. No matter what effect you choose, you run it full wet and control it with the Rev. All this is in addition to awesome tone availability. There are more expensive/better effects units than the MX200, but it works well for me. I use delay and reverb mostly. Hope this helps. Thanx, Randy

I use a Stewart World 1.2 power amp and a TC Electronics M300 processor. Brad Sarno recommended the M300 cause it is SIMPLE to use, all knobs to control parameters. If I want a different reverb or delay I just dial it in with a knob instead of having to go into a program. Plus you can pick these up on ebay for around $100 or less. Cheap price, awesome unit.

Brad, I am using the TC M300 as well, along with a Peavey DPC750 and run in to 2 Peavey N115E enclosures like yourself. I can also run out to the Power amp in on my Nashville 1000, (obviously by-passing the DPC750).
I have 2 speaker outputs and 2 line outputs on my rack to cater for which ever rig I am planning to use!

Thanks all for your responces. I do believe that I need to look into saving for a Revelation unit. Ideally, I would like to find someone in my neck of the woods who has one that I could try out with my guitar, speakers and power amp to see what the final results would be. It does seem to be the new unit of choice. Thanks again.

Brad,

I bought the Revelation without having tried it first. I talked to people that I respected and just felt good about the purchase. I couldn't be happier! I use the Rev > TC M2000 > MosValve 500.
