The Auntie Genoa Keawe show takes place on Thursday’s at the Waikiki Marriott Hotel. It is customary for guest artists to casually drop by to play and sing impromptu. Many of these are local entertainers who perform without rehearsal. It is meant to be very informal. And therein lies the excitement because you never know what is going to happen or who is going to perform next. There has been some great experiences come out of this for me. I always make sure I get to Auntie’s show on Thursdays, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Here are a few pictures of HSGA steelers on Auntie's show.
Alan Akaka on steel with legendary Auntie Genoa Keawe on uke at Thursday
evening concert at the Waikiki Marriott.
Kimiko Ohta on steel, with two of "The Birds" and Tom Tohma on bass from Japan
on the show. Tom is Vice President of HSGA and a major force for HSGA in Japan.
Yukitsugu Sakasegawa, the arranger for "The Birds," from Japan on steel
Duke Ching on steel with Auntie Genoa & Japanese vocalist with Ihilani Miller,
lead singer for Royal Hawaiian Band, with Tutu dancing
LT Zinn on steel with Auntie Genoa and Alan Akaka, the singer.
Aloha & Enjoy,

Don, that's the Greatest Show On Earth, IMHO. Hawaiian music doesn't get any better than that! |

Just heard the sad news from Momi Kahawaiolaa (pink dress) that someone had stole her guitar you see here in the photo. Thieves must have seen her put it into her car trunk. When she returned, the trunk was broken into.
This could very well happen with our steels, so, if you're storing instruments in your car, make sure no one sees you. |
