Buzz on 6 th string on reso

My reso has developed a buzz when I hit the big string a little too loudly. Being new to these critters, where should I look for the problem?
It is tuned C6 so the string gage is only 032.
Any Ideas?

Search the archives and you'll find lots of good info. Here's a helpful article from Stewart-Macdonald:

Jim, I suspect your reso was originally set up to have dobro strings with a "big string" that's about .056 diameter. Could be the string groove in the nut and saddle are the problem.

That's a good article -- one I didn't run into when I was looking last year. I'm on stew-mac's mailing list; they send me something every month, but I didn't have that one.
Thanks so much!
Rick

BUZZ ON RESO

It might be the spider rattling against the cone. Take an un-sharpened pencil, posicle stick or such, reach in through a hole in the cover plate near the edge and push on the side of the spider to move it very slightly. That sometimes fixes the buzz...but BE CAREFUL!
Dick Blattenberger taught me that trick!

That should read "popsicle stick"!
