I'd forgotten I had this...

While doing some organization in the studio (a/k/a throwing out some junk), I stumbled across something I picked up at a yard sale many years ago, stashed away, and forgotten I had: a correspondence course in Hawaiian Guitar from the U.S. School of Music in Port Washington, NY. There are 96 lessons total, though I'm missing lessons 1-3 (which I'm guessing the original owner had done, moved out of the folder, and then lost interest in the course). I was just flipping through it and one of the lessons is a feature on Noel Boggs. The copyright dates on the lessons are 1945-1947. The early lessons are based around the High Bass A tuning (A, C#, E, A, C#, E), and they take a while to get into other tunings.

When I get some time, I'll make some scans and put 'em up.

Great idea to scan that course, and good luck on your cleaning up.

You can still find the course on ebay occasionally. I bought one a few months ago and sold it a few weeks ago. The first few lessons are in an E or E7 tuning. I bought it because I had bought their course on standard guitar back in the 50's when they were still in business. A lot of work but a sound schooling in theory and reading notation. I didn't finish the first course.
