Anyone have a circuit board layout for a Webb 6-14E? I just started a recap job on my '78 #817 amp.

Jonathan,

Thanks, but I already have the schematics. I was hoping to find the circuit board layout.

Steve, what is a circuit board layout? I have the schematics also but I don't know what you are referring to. I know this question shows my electronics ignorance but it will help me learn something. I could send you closeup photos of the amp chassis.

He's refering to the technical drawing of the circuit board showing component positioning, values, and circuit traces.

Thanks Mike. It seems that would be much easier to read than the schematics I have.

These schematics that have been offered in the past by Jerry, Brad and others are copies of the originals that I sent to all of them a few years ago. I have the actual originals that were sent to me back in 1978 by John Campbell who designed the amp. He never sent me a "chassis layout" which would've made things a bit easier, since the circuit boards are't labeled as to which components are which.

Hey Jerry---check out THIS SITE and click some schematics vs. some layouts to see what is meant by 'layout'. I'm barely literate in this stuff and find layouts to be made just for someone like me.

Wow Jon, that is much easier to read. I believe even I can do it.

Hey Jerry,

Sounds like someone has already answered your question. Basically the schematic shows a logical layout of the circuit design. The physical arrangement of the components on the circuit board is very different usually and is dictated by size and shape of the components and limitations with the circuit board layout. I can trace my way through the circuit board, but it is much slower and opens up more chance for errors.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

That's a good explaination. In my younger days, I was a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designer. I would say the schematic was my map and with it I would do a jigsaw puzzle to get all the pieces (components) to fit and then it was connect the dots. It payed the bills for a long time and was a lot of fun.

Hey Micheal,

What kind of products were you designing PCB's for? Sounds very interesting.

Steve, would actual closeup photos of a Webb board help you any?

Jerry,

Thanks for the offer, but I've already got the amp tore apart. I'll just have to visually trace my way through the circuit boards using the schematic as a guide to find all the cap's I'm after.
