Hello Steelers:
Am looking to upgrade my rack system equipment. Am currently using transtubefex through a DPC 1400x amp going to twin 15" speakers. Would like to have light as possible equipment. Would be interested to know what is "hot" today. Thanks ![Razz](images/smiles/icon_razz.gif) |

Ray the best piece of rack-mount kit you could possibly buy is Brad Sarno's Revelation tube preamp !
Nothing else comes close in my opinion. |

In my opinion, you can't get much better or lighter than what you've got. You didn't say what kind of speakers you are using, if they are Black Widows or similar, there's your weight. You could look at replacing them with Neodymium's which would lower the weight of each cabinet 10 or 12 pounds.
I don't play out away from my regular church gig much, but when I do, I like lightweight stuff. I have three Acoustic Image amps of various models, a Fender Jazzmaster ultralight amp and speaker, and I just bought an Eden WTX260 bass head to use for steel. It sounds great using a Holy Grail reverb, and a DD5 delay. I'm using it with a 15" Eminence neo speaker. The amp weighs 4 lbs, the speaker and cabinet about 20 lbs. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |

Paddy's right, the Revelation preamp will BLOW your mind. After I tried one at Brad's I HAD TO HAVE ONE!!! It is the biggest improvement I've made to tune since buying a new steel 17 years ago. |
