Hello folks. Not too long ago, there was some discussion about some lousy quality Stevens bars wherein the plating was chipping off. One I gave to my grandson now falls into that category. Is there anybody I can inform about this or any suggestion?

I gave up on the Stevens bar. Poor quality.
I can recommend the Shubb Pearse. There are 2 sizes. Get the one that matches the stevens in size. It has a sharp end like a stevens and a rounded end for steel playing. USe it for both.
hope this helps.

Thanks Ron. As a matter of fact, I have a chap (student) who bought a Beard Gold Tone resophonic guitar, and came to the house with his Shubb Pearse (SP2) bar. I fell in love with it and will get one. I just couldn't remember what the story was with the poor Stevens quality. I'd just like to give the manufacturer my comments about the shoddy quality. Thanks again. Geo |

If you buy about 10 of the Stevens bars at 10 different locations your odds are about 1-10 that you will get a good one. I have one that is real old. I keep it just for display. I think it is the worst bar made.
The Shubb SP-2 is made very well. Another good bar is the Lap Dawg. Similar to the Sheerhorn bar but less expensive. I like that one as well.
my 2cents.

I second the recommendation for the Lap Dawg. You won't see me touting Dunlop products very often, but it is my main bar now and is a great variation on the Stevens bar.

Thanks guys, I'll look into the Lap Dawg. While I've heard of it, I never investigated it. Sometimes it's hard to teach an old dawg new tricks!! I'm 68. Geo |

Lap Dawg, George. I've worn out a bunch of Stevens bars, but my 2 Lap Dawgs are lasting forever. They are durable. |

Lick most of you guys, I gave up on the Stevens bars and switched to a Dunlop with
better plating. I finally came off the bucks and let Ron Tipton make me a couple to my own specs. They are like the Stevens,
but rounded on one end, shorter and slightly
taller than the Shubb with the same features.
They are $50 each, but I'm glad I did it.
Ron has the measurements. If anyone is
