Mesa Boogie 2/90 amp

Just bought a Boggie 2/90 and am currently using a mosvalve 500 with a blue tube and 921 spring reverb.Will the boogie have as much headroom as the Mosvalve 500.Will i hear a difference between the two amps.Would a mesa preamp be better in front of the boogie instead of my tube works pre and effects Thanks Tim
