I'm trying to help an emailer who needs info about a Maverick. HE ALREADY HAS THIS STEEL, OK? So the question is not "should he buy it, is it good, what is you opinion of it" etc. Let's deal with what we have here.

3P+1K

The lever lowers the 4th string 1/2 step.
The C pedal raises the 5th string 1 step and raises the 2nd string 1-1/2 steps.

The question: what is the standard Maverick setup, what are its capabilities (limitations).

I've got a question in to the fellow as to whether this is the blonde maple Mav or the brown contact paper model although I don't actually know if there is a mechanical difference between the two.

Also--he does not have a tuning wrench. What is the correct size for a Maverick?

I am referring him to this thread so that he can hopefully get a bunch of good info.

Hi, Jon, without seeing the guitar it's impossible to know if it's been altered in some way, but the original setup on the Maverick I started with, and all the ones I've seen, was A pedal raising 5 and 10 a whole step, B pedal raising 3 and 6 a half step, C pedal raising 4 and 5 a whole step, and the single knee lowering 2 and 8 a half step. There are many workarounds to add knees, I've seen some very clever additions to add changes.

My blonde Maverick was set up the way Mark reported. It was a very nice sounding and playing guitar.
