I will be playing with Nightshift at the Brenham Springfest Saturday evening, May 12th. We come on around 10pm. Stop by and say howdy! (Our manager told us we came on at 9 but the printed official schedule has us at 10)

Plans in place for 117th Maifest
One of Washington County’s oldest traditions will be staged for the 117th time Friday and Saturday.
The Brenham Maifest, which commemorates the county’s German heritage, will again feature hundreds of costumed youths, two royal coronations, parades, German music and dancers, other entertainment, food and crafts.
The Junior Maifest’s theme this year is “www.Maifest2007.fun.”
Junior Maifest activities kick off with Friday’s parade through downtown Brenham at 10:30 a.m. The coronation is that night at 7:30 at the Fireman’s Park baseball stadium.
Dillon Thielemann and Miriam Cangelosi will reign over the Junior court. Thielemann is the son of Arlen Thielemann and Heather Crowson. Cangelosi is the daughter of Rachel and Chris Cangelosi.
The Senior Maifest theme is “Music and Memories Through the Decades.” All Senior Maifest activities are Saturday, beginning with a parade at 10:30 a.m. and culminating with the coronation beginning at 8 p.m., also at Fireman’s Park stadium.
Severin Witte and Brooke Higgs will reign over the Senior Maifest.
Witte is the son of William and Rebecca Witte. Higgs is the daughter of Bennett and Connie Higgs.
In between the coronations, on Friday and Saturday, the festival grounds at Fireman’s Park will buzz with food and entertainment from the Winedale Singers, the Dujka Brothers, Chris Rybak, Alpenfest, the Schuplatter Dancers and Walter Ross.
The carnival opens at 5 p.m. Friday and at 11 a.m. Saturday. It will also be operating tonight, with all-you-can-ride armbands available.
Saturday’s activities also include arts and crafts booths, displays of antique cars and tractors. After the Senior coronation, Night Shift will perform.
New this year is the Maifest German Village. There will be a blacksmith, and others, demonstrating everything from how to make sauerkraut, Christmas ornaments and butter, to washing clothes with lye soap using a tub and washboard, to cowbells and their uses.
Native costumes will abound, and family researchers will be available to assist with Stemwede Genealogy and give advice on exploring German ancestry.
Admission is free for the festival grounds. Coronation tickets are $12 per event.
Free shuttle buses will be operating between the Brenham High School parking lot (525 A.H. Ehrig Drive) Friday from 5 p.m. to midnight and Saturday from noon to midnight.
