Only 6 hours to go and overpriced(?), so I don't feel too bad about calling attention to this auction in progress.

Always suspicious of a steel with standard guitar PU layouts, but you never know.

I would have bought it without hesitating if I'd had the money available today. Unfortunately I don't, so I wrote the builder and told him I was interested 'sometimes later'. He'll have a website up soon.
This guitar says three things to me; "Surf", "Film Noir" and "6th tuning"..

As a 6th tuning abuser, I resent that!

Good materials in my book, the pickup is OK by me as they dont have an "arch" in the pole-pieces (i is adjustable and the lipstick flat), I don't like the style much but it looks well done, whats with the weird bridge?

That's pretty cool but can you get it with tuck-n-roll interior and an 8 track player?

Turning a pair of Danelectro pickups into a humbucking rear pickup is quite easy, ...and would be monster on something like this with a Dano up front too. The "aged" magnet lipsticks are softer for slide and emulate aged lipsticks with the razor edge sound rounded off a bit; But if a person were looking for a Steel sound I think the full-on magnet reissues will be better. Certainly not that costly to change out either way.

Builders name is Jason Dumont.

I mentioned the SGF and maybe he'll chime in.

Customs are available, so popping in a 'horseshoe' is a possibility, as well as a shifter with an 8 ball knob. Not!

At this time no 8 string 'Bel Aire' is available, but he has a 'Rodeo' 8er in the booth right now.

Looks pretty neat to me, except I'm not sure if I'd like that humbucker on it, but I'd bet the builder would give pickup choices.

Hmmmm, that slanted bridge worries me. Is the nut slanted parallel to it???

The 'slanted bridge' is just an optical illusion, caused by the rest of the lines on the guitar, it's perfectly straight.

Hi everyone,
My name is Jason Dumont, I make Lap King lap steels. I am excited to find my instruments being discussed. I want to try to address some questions or concerns I had read.

Well, I've signed up for one of these now, with a P-90 at the bridge and a 25" scale, in a flashy Fiesta red. Hopefully it'll prove to be a cool companion for my Asher.
Only problem is that I don't have a drivers license.....

Now I know some of you want to know why I chose the Ric style bridge. I started playing on a square neck dobro and when I started to play lap steel years afterward I found myself lost without a handrest. I wanted to give the option to other players with my "affliction" but I didn't want to have to screw a handrest into the body leaving unsightly holes as well as making the finish suseptible to chipping there should it be removed. With the Ric style bridge the handrest screws into the bridge with machine screws and is really unobtrusive. I first grind the radius flat then re notch the bride with 55mm string spacing.
Plus I like lots of shiny metal on my guitar!
