I play with 2 Nashville 400's for my steel. I am going to start playng keyboards a little, and my Triton keyboard sounds like crap the the tone controls are set for the steel (The same is true for my Motif rack unit). I can adjust them to make the keyboard sound good, but this isn't going to be feasable on stage. What I am doing is running steel and keyboards through a line mixer with the effects loop going to a stereo 31 band EQ. The steel won't be routed to the EQ. My problem is that they keyboard sounds have embedded reverb in the programs, and when mixed with the amp reverb it is unbearable. Since the keyboard isn't within reach of the amps, I would have to walk to my amps to turn off the reverb, which is not feasable either.
I would like to make a box that has (preferrably) 1 switch with 2 cords going to the amps to turn off the reverb via the footswitch jack on the back of the amp. Any idea how I would do this? _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Richard, before you try building that box,try plugging your keyboard into the power amp in jack on the back of the amp. I think that your steel will still come through. I don't have one here to try this but I think it will work. |

FYI, on my N400, plugging into the pwr. amp in defeats the ft. panel inputs and vice versa.
edit:I defer to Ken on the components needed and wiring instructions.

Have you considered using one amp for steel and the other one for keyboard? |

I heard somewhere that keyboards should always be played through closed-back amps, to avoid damaging the speaker.
YMMV |

Bob... I have thought of that, but have a stereo leslie simulator I use on my steel through the Pre Eq on the front of the amps. Also, the keyboard sounds better in stereo as a lot of the patches I use are stereo. I was thinking of buying a keyboard amp but don't have room in the car to carry it.
I am experimenting with things but may end up with one NV400 for steel and the other for keyboard.
Thanks for the help. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Playing for 55 years and still counting. |
