Can anyone tell me how to sustain the last chord in a BIAB song? The endings it creates are abrupt and it's driving me nuts. I've searched the BIAB forum to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated! |

I don't know what versior of BIAB you are using, but the 2007 version I am using can automatically put an ending in for you. |

Thanks for your help guys. I'm using the 2007 MegaPak for Windows. The 'Generate Two Bar Ending' isn't what I mean. I would like to let the last chord of the song ring out naturally. I've tried the C... I can get it to sustain for the length of the measure but not any further. Seems like this should be something that they should add in a future version. Anybody else have any thoughts on how this can be done?
Thanks! |

Mark, enter the chord with 3 dots, (C...), then add another bar or two and enter an unrelated note with a rest ( D.). The (C...) will sustain until the (D.) . Be sure to change the number of measures (bars) to include the ending.
If you are playing more than one chorus, you must do the ending as a "tag" so the note will not sustain on every chorus. Choose "tag exists" and enter where it starts and where it ends. Be sure to uncheck the "generate 2 bar ending" box.
Send me your email address and I'll send you a song file I have written so you can see an example.

Got 'em.
Thanks once again John, you've been a HUGE help.
For anyone else that wants to do the same thing, see John's instructions, they work like a charm. |

Jim, those are files are BIAB files and will not open properly unless you have BIAB. If you do have BIAB then just download and right click on the file and choose "open with" then use BIAB to open the file. |

John D, I like your site and the downloadable BIAB files are great. I've already substituted your Ray Price sty. shuffle in a few of my own files. Thanks |

Jim, as Andy pointed out, the files are biab "song" files. The extension is ".sgu" which can only be opened by biab.
If I converted the files to 64 bit mp3 for tracks, they would be about 1.5mb in size and could not be edited easily. The biab file is 1kb and can be edited with biab (a great program). biab is avialable for purchase at www.pgmusic.com . _________________ www.home.earthlink.net/~johnd37

Has anyone ever had a problem with BIAB where the ending, such as C... followed by a rest such as D. is seemingly ignored, and the song continues as if the sustain and rest are not even there. I know this can happen if there is only one chorus, but what about this happening if there are multiple choruses, tag exists is checked, and generate 2 bar ending is unchecked? I have talked to BIAB support and they cannot give me an explanation. Any ideas? |

Tim, check to make sure that the "loop" box is unchecked. It's right below the song title window and to the right. |

The problem occurs with the loop box unchecked. I am not aware of the "Wizard" to which John refers. |

Tim, under the song title name, there are 3 squares for "starting bar", "number of bars", and "number of choruses".
Maybe you don't have the correct number of bars and/or choruses entered.
If your [hold chord followed by rest] is in the tag, it will only play after the last chorus.
The "rest" should be several beats after the "hold" chord. I usually put it 2 bars after the "hold chord". Again, be sure you have these bars included in the number of bars for the song. _________________ www.home.earthlink.net/~johnd37

Tim emailed me a song with the problem he described and we determined that he needed to check the box under song settings to allow rests in the last chorus. It worked perfect after that. |
