I've been reading the Forum for some time and have even made a few purchases and have finally gotten around to joining up. I wanted to say hello to all and a special "howdy" to some good friends who are Forum members: Chuck Campbell, Lynn Owsley, Chuck Cusimano, Chris Schlotzhauer, Buddie Hrable, Ted Solesky, Dick Wood, Ricky Davis, Wade Branch, Albert Talley, Junior Knight, Joan Cox and "my" steel player-Johnny Cox! I hope everyone is well and doing great!

What took ya so long Ron?
Guys,I walked into Pearls in the Fort Worth Stockyards some time back and Ron was playing an old red Sho-Bud and flat wearing it out.
Go see him and I promise you will be impressed not only with his steel playing but he is a great Tele player as well as singer too.
Welcome to the Forum Ron.

Folks if you're in the Dallas-Ft Worth Texas area and you can pick up a session with Ron Stafford playing, DO IT!!! I guarantee you an evening of super steel guitar playing and I don't care who the rest of the band is. A great player. Saw him at Pearls awhile back and he's another Texas Killer.

Welcome Ron -
Guys when I started playing steel, I was at my instructors music store in Fort Worth, Texas, as luck would have it Ron walks in, and my instructor is called away for some business issue. I'm sitting there plucking away and Ron comes in and sits down at my instructors steel, and starts playing. I got to sit there for a good 10 minutes listening to Ron pick his heart out.
I have since seen Ron play in several venues, and he is as good a steel player and as any of the pros, plus he can blow em away on on electric guitar as well. And one heck of a nice guy.
Glad your here Ron.... Hope to see you in the future.

Welcome Ron to the Steel Guitar Forum by way of New York State.Wow, I've never seen so many Steel Guitar Pickers on one page that all call Texas home. Makes me jealous as heck because I should become an imported Texan. My eldest daughter lives in Sherman and is Executive Director of Financial Aid at Austin College. [ Same City ] I visited there last May, as a grand son graduated from High School. Where is Grapevine located? Do all you Texas steelers go to the Dallas big show every year? I surely would love to come out some year to take it in.. You'll enjoy the forum, Ron. Regards, Bernie..

I had a chance to play with Ron a couple of months ago in Ft. Worth and I couldn't agree more that he is one heck of a player. Good to have you here Ron.

Seems like all the Stafford's are great pickers and singers. I was born in Carlsbad N.M. and now I live in Louisiana, I'm close to being a Texan.

Bernie, Grapevine is between Dallas and Ft. Worth just north of DFW Airport. I'm right in the middle of what we refer to as "the Metromess". Thanks again for the welcome mat guys - George, Danny and Mark-I appreciate your kind words (you boys can hold your own, too!). I was thinking about putting a new post up about all the steel players in Texas, the manufacturers located here and the opportunities to play-I really think Texas has become the steel guitar capital of America, and probably the world. It might be an interesting topic to explore.

Hey Ron,
welcome to the forum. I have only met you once and was impressed with you playing then.
I got your name and number from Danny Naccarato some time back and have given your name and number out for sub work here and there.
Hope and trust you are doing well. Would love to see David Ball's show now that he is based in Texas again!
Keep in touch.
Billy
