Who makes new 8 string multineck steels? I have a National D8, used to have a Rickenbacker T8, but really hate taking vintage stuff out to play live. Is there a good 8 string manufacturer out there now? I've been out of it for sometime. There's a bunch of pedal steel manufacturers, but not that many, that I know of, non-pedal, and virtually no 8 string steels without custom made costs. I recently saw Cindy Cashdollar with Van Morrison on Austin City Limits and was inspired to use my steels more! Thanx!

I recently bought a new T-8 non-pedal steel from "West Coast Steel Guitar" that was real good and decent price. They are on the forum somewhere or can be researched on the web. Looks good and sounds good !! And there are several other good ones available. Eddie "C" P.S. I think Cindy C$$ plays a " Remington Steel " , another nice one available new .

Damn, I thought she was using a Fender Stringmaster T8... Herb's site shows her behind one! Go figure!

To me, Herb's guitars look like what I want. I wish I had never gotten rid of my Rickenbacker T8! Prices are a bit steep, BUT, you get what you pay for! Thanx!

I think Cindy $$$$ plays either a Fender T-8 or Remmy T-8 and maybe other steels depending where or what she does ?? I think she has a web site with all guitar info ?? It's on the web somewhere but I'm not sure of her address ?? Eddie "C"

I could have sworn she used an old Stringmaster on the Van Morrison show, but the Remington looks a lot like it. My wife accidently erased it on TiVo, I'll have to see if I can find it again. She does some fine work!

I don't know what George Piburn has on the fire nowadays; But the multi-necks he's made in the past are certainly worthy of looking into. A search of the old No Peddlers archive should bring up a number of good reviews. Here's an older example on George's website:

I made some parts for this D-8 made by Billy Gilbert,
Canyon Lake ,Tx. He used True-Tone P/U.'s, Tom Bradshaws', fret boards. He wasn't able to post these pics himself and I thought it was a very nice job. He can be contacted at: bgilbert15@hotmail.com.

Hi, Has any one heard Herb Remington's steels with the newer pickups that supposedly sound more like a Fender steel? I visited him last year and can vouch for quality, I just wasn't blown away by the sound of the George L's.

I have one of Herb's 8-string Playboy models, and the quality is impeccable. If I had the funds and time, I'd order one of his multi-neck guitars.
