Recently purchased a D-10 EXCEL superb.
Here's my take on it so far.
I've had it for about two weeks. I spent a couple of nights changing the knees to fit my playing style and getting to know the guitar. The pull changes are not as easy to change as some other brands of steels but overall the engineering is in a league of it's own. The guitar sounded good in the music room but I didn't know how it would sound on a gig until I tried it out. Sat, I had two gigs and the first one was outside. I was really impressed with the sound that I got out of this guitar and I knew that if it sounded this good outside, it would be a winner in a club. I play through an Evans amp with a DD-3, RV-5, And Chorus. Mostly the DD-3 by it's self.
The gig on Sat, night was a good test of how the EXCEL would perform, although every club is a little different in how it will effect the sound.
I was amazed how well it sounded, and can say without a doubt the best sounding guitar I've owned so far. The 25 1\2" scale had loads of sustain but will take a little time to get use to.
The pedals are so easy to push that you really have to watch how you play, [can't have a heavy foot].
It is compact and somewhat light but I haven't weighed it. The Keyless design seems to do what it is intended to do. No nasty over tones like a keyed guitar, and sounded sweet all the way up the fret board. After all of this I haven't put on a set of new strings yet. Still has the strings on it that it had when I bought it.
So my take on the EXCEL D-10 Superb is that I am very happy that I took the chance to buy the guitar and what a great guitar it is . If it continues to produce the sound I heard this weekend, then it will be a keeper for sure. Only time will tell.

James,
The guitar is used but new to me.
It belonged to Mark Chesnut's steel player, Slim M.
After some polishing and cleaning it looks new.
I'm glad to have it.
I'll try to get some pics soon.

Glad you like the new steel, Jerry. Sorry we couldn't hook up by phone this past weekend. Things got pretty crazy on my end. Wink
