I recently received my new MSA Legend S-12 extended E9th pedal steel. It has a cabinet built by Mark Giles and the color is natural maple and amber. I am extremely pleased in every way with this instrument. The fit and finish, the pedal action and most important to me, the tone, all exceeded my expectations. I find this guitar a joy to sit behind and play. It just has that tone and feel that wants to make you keep playing. Thank you! Kyle and Johnny for building me such a fine instrument.

That's a beautiful amber color, nicely set off by the maple.
I'm curious about something. On my lacquer Classic: were it stripped down to the wood (to be refinished) would I find that beautiful flame or a less highly-figured wood? _________________ Those that say don't know; those that know don't say.--Buddy Emmons |

I'm sure these flamed cabinets were specifically selected for this see-through finish.
Those Giles lacquer jobs are really something to behold! Amazing! |

Thank you for the compliments. My copedant is pretty much a standard Emmons setup. The "O"pedal lowers my B's a whole tone. I raise 3 E's to F with my LKL. I only lower 2 E's with my LKR to get an E-maj 7th on the lower end. My RKL raises the 1st to G# and the second to E and lowers the 6th to F# with a split. everything else is standard. |

Morton and Jim, thanks for your kind words. It ws a pleasure putting your guitars together. The finish on Morton's guitar is callaed Honey Natural Flame and is fast becoming one of our favorites. Mark Giles builds all of our wood bodies and does the finish on the majority of the Legends. We are very happy to have a great working relationship with Mark. _________________ Johnny "Dumplin" Cox

Well fellers, I just can't be outdone. I was warming up on my Legend before service this morning, and did something I never do, I dropped my bar. It was pretty cold in the church, and my hands were cold. It hit the cabinet behind the C6th neck, and I nearly had a heart attack. I was afraid to look, but when I did, there was not a mark on it, I couldn't even see where the bar hit. What a relief!!!!! Whatever the clearcoat is on the Legend, it's TOUGH. I'll agree with the others, these are great guitars and Johnny and the others do a great job building them.

OK, I guess I'll jump on the band wagon. The problem is, the changes in color from blues to greens are so subtle, the pictures don't quite capture nor reveal the true beauty of this guitar. The darkest blues are at the edges and the color fades to lighter blues then to greens. It could be the photographer's lack of ability or perhaps the camera.

These are gorgeous guitars. I would just be so afraid of dinging the finish (I doubt I would have Darvin's good luck).
Thank God for formica. |

Say Tommy, I was at the 6:30 Opry show the Saturday before Easter, checking you out playing that plum colored Millennium. Sounded great. Couldn't tell what amp you were using? _________________ MSA Legend SD10, ZumSteel SD-10, Telonics X10 pickups, Hilton volume pedals, Fender Steel King with TSNEO-15-4, Evans FET 500 LV with TSNEO-15-4, (2) Webb speaker cabinets loaded with 4 OHM JBL K-130s |

What Mike said. Thanks for carbon Fiber.
I have been playing a Millenium since they were introduced. I play a lot and I drop things more than I should.
Not a mark on the carbon fiber. But, a few on the aluminum. |
