Using the balanced output jack in the back of the amp I went through the board last night. It sounded great coming through the mains and through the monitors, but I could not hear any sound coming from the speaker in the amp. Is this normal? _________________ 2008 D10 Rains Pedal Steel, 2000 D10 Carter Pedal Steel, BR-9 Lap Steel, Nashville 400, Nashville 112, '65 Fender Twin Re-issue, MB 200, Telonics Volume Pedal |

Using the XLR balanced output should not effect the output of the speaker. Make sure that you don't have a set of headphones plugged into the PREAMP OUT/HEADPHONE OUTPUT jack as this will shut the internal 12" speaker off.
Other than this, the symptom is abnormal and the amp needs benchchecking.

Thanks Mike. I tried using the XLR output at home and it did not defeat the speaker in the amp. Maybe the monitors were up so loud that I could not hear the speaker in the amp. I'll try it again next week and get back to you if it is not working correctly. _________________ 2008 D10 Rains Pedal Steel, 2000 D10 Carter Pedal Steel, BR-9 Lap Steel, Nashville 400, Nashville 112, '65 Fender Twin Re-issue, MB 200, Telonics Volume Pedal |

The XLR output will "not" defeat the internal speaker. The XLR is designed to allow you to send this balanced output to a mixing console or recorder. But it will not defect the internal speaker, only the PREAMP OUT/CD INPUT will do that. |

My marshall DSL401 has a speaker emulator plug. when I use it my amp speaker is shut off.It lets you use your Amp as a preamp. See if the peavey has this output. Could be the problem. It is for the purpose of recording and going into a mixer when your playing a big venue and your Amp don't have the power to keep up it works great and you don't lose your amp quality. |
