Here is a cheap and easy way to replace a broken case handle. I've used it only on regular guitar cases, but I think it would work with steel guitar cases.

This way, you don't have to pay to get it fixed, and you don't have to buy a riveter to do it yourself. Also, the result is better than using those buckle type handle replacements, and costs less than half as much.

You buy one of these handles:

And then you mount it without rivets the way this article in FRETS shows you. Scroll down:

I just want to help out forumites. I don't know the manufacturer or seller. But I do think that anybody with a good product deserves to make a buck.

Steel Guitars are much heavier and that won't realistically work on something heavy. I've built cases (I just built a two piece set for my D-10 Franklin) and you need a heavy duty handle.

Split rivets to hold the handle to the case don't work well either. I've fixed an Emmons case that had split rivets to hold the handle to the case that pulled out.

Thanks for posting that, Jack. I was afraid my quick fix wouldn't work for steels. I think you just saved somebody from trying this and having the guitar and case fall on his foot.
