Hi folks,
I have nothing to do with these, but I saw them and thought people might be interested. I just bought one, it's cheap, and who knows...it might sound good. There are many available.

The mailman just brought mine, a 3 1/4 X 7/8, rounded on each end and clear glass. I haven't had a chance to try it yet but a only about 3.5 oz. it should be interesting.

I've had a chance to try out the bar and I like it. It's not the size listed in the ebay sale but instead of a 3 1/4 X 7/8 it's 3 3/4 X 15/16 but only weighs 3 oz. It doesn't feel like a big bar but is as easy to get around with as my 3 X 3/4 bar. It's rounded on both ends and I really like that. It's made of clear glass and my wife said it looks like a big glycerine suppository. Smile I would like it to be red. Like unto a ruby. Yeah, that's what I need.

I emailed the seller about the size difference last night and got this reply this morning.
>QUOTE thanks for the heads up on the size discrepancy, i intend to remedy that in the future. thanks for your business, you are a valued customer.<END QUOTE
I also ordered another bar last night and included a note asking the the bar be measured so that I got a 3 1/4 X 7/8 size bar. I know if I have two bars I'll never drop or lose the first one. Smile I'll let you know what size I get.

I got one about a week ago and have to say I was kinda disappointed in it. I mean, it has a tone of its own, but it will definitely be something of specialty item for me. But it is cheap, so I guess it's ok for what it is. I was hoping for something that was a little more warmer and rounder sounding, instead it's kind of plunky.

I bought one of these Bars and contacted the seller
after I read what you had to say about the bar not
being the correct size and he has yet to respond
to my mail. I have sent email to him two different
times and no answer. I told him that I would not
keep the bar if it was not a 7/8 X 3 1/4

I ordered a 3 1/4 X 7/8 and that is exactly what I got. It is a little light but I think is sounds good, marginally better than my Lap Dawg. For a total investment of $13.49 I can't complain. I was thinking the same as Jude, if I order another I won't drop and break the 1st one.

Mine came today. It's okay, but it's very light. The best thing this bar will be for is for my seven-year-old daughter to use so that she doesn't drop a heavy bar, and can get around with an actual bar instead of the glass bottleneck slide she likes to use.

My second bar came today. It's 3 5/16 x 7/8 amd weighs 2.3 oz. I've been using it on the dobro and like it just fine. I usually use a Broz-O-Phonic for dobro. I figure if a bullet bar was good enough for Brother Oswald I should learn to use one. Anyway, the light weight glass bar is easier to hold onto and tonewise I can't tell that much difference. It's a keeper.

I received my glass bar today and quite frankly,
eventho I like the weight and feel of this bar,
I prefer my Black Phoenix bar better. The glass
bar is 7/8 X 3 1/4 and I would sell it if anyone
would like to have it. I used it approximately
10 minutes.

I just received an email from Ethan Huetter, the seller of the bars and he's going to exchange a 3 1/4 X 7/8 for the original oversize bar he sent to me.
Jim, he states in his ebay sale that if your not happy with the bar for any reason he'll refund your money including shipping.

I sent this request to the seller and builder this morning.
Hi Mr.Ethan Huetter
This bar would be even greater if drilled through the center and filled with lead.
I would buy a bunch of them
Weight is the only complaint I have heard.
Any chance of custom making one for me. 3 1/2 X 7/8 dual rounded ends drilled and filled with lead?
Price is not an option!
Please send quote if possible to my email
davidbiggers@sbcglobal.net
Thanks
David Biggers
Let see what he says. I will get back with everyone and post his responce.

How did this topic get into pedal steel? Do I have to get rid of my glass bar because I use it on lap steel and dobro?

I bought one, and my only complaint is that neither end is consistently rounded. Other than that, the sound and feel is pretty much as expected for $10.

Jude

I had to decide between pedal and non. I didn't want to leave it in the For Sale section because that section is for members to sell their products. If the maker of these bars wants to advertise on the Forum, he can join. Our classifieds aren't intended to drive web traffic to Ebay.

If you want to post this same info in the "Steel Without Pedals" section, feel free.

I don't think our posts were intended to drive traffic to ebay but more of a product review. That was my intention anyway. I got good service from the gentleman and liked his product. Just wanted folks to know of my experience.

I understand, Jude, and that's fine with me. It's just a policy to try to reserve the Forum Classifieds for ads by Forum members. That's why I moved the topic. I can move it to "Steel Without Pedals" if you think that would be more appropriate. I thought that the "Pedal Steel" section would be seen by more people.

Im cool, I get a notification when there's a post on this topic so I won't have any problem keeping up with it. BTW b0b, how about selling a set of E6 strings for the six string lap steel. That's what's needed to play along with the Don Helms book/cd you sell. OK, I know. I should post this question in Want To Buy. Confused
